A LOT OF GREAT PLAYERS HAVE PLAYED FOR MESA HIGH - Scott Baker, a second generation Mesa High player, put together a list of the top players who went through Mesa. He went by observation and stories handed down to him from relatives.
Baker was a ball boy at Mesa High in 1976 when he was 6. His parents went to Mesa High. He was one of 23 Bakers from his father's side who graduated from Mesa. Twelve from his mom's side graduated from Mesa. His dad Chuck played for Mutt Ford in the mid-1950s. His uncle Bill played in the late '40s and early '50s. Another uncle played with Whizzer White in the '40s.
Scott said he probably missed only 45 Mesa High games in his 41 years, most of those coming when he served a two-year Mormon church mission and helping coach at Snowflake High for a year.
The numeral clock at Jackrabbits Stadium will always be a landmark that sticks out in his mind. Here are his favorite all-time Jackrabbits:
